Room with a View: Tuscany

Since Il Salviatino, a boutique hotel outside Florence, opened in late summer 2010, the travel world has been abuzz. After 30 years at the InterContinental, veteran hotelier Marcello Pigozzo left to pursue his dream of finding and perfecting one small hotel in Italy. He bought a magnificent 15th-century villa full of romance and potential, then poured €15 million into renovating it. It was quick to catch on, winning a prestigious travel award, and soon ardent travelers were wondering: with such personal vision and passion, could this hotel join the ranks of properties like Villa Feltrinelli? Indagare editor Eliza Harris traveled to Florence to find out. To read her review, including which rooms have the best views of Florence, click here: Il Salviatino.
